More Breckenridge

Yesterday we had a great day of skiing with Jocelyn, Hannah & Kaitlin. It was Kaitlin's first time on the slopes and it has been 5 years since Hannah skied, so it was almost like starting over again.

By the end of the day Hannah was skiing the green runs all by herself and Kaitlin had mastered the bunny slopes. So today Rodney took Jocelyn & Hannah out skiing again and they finished the day with skiing several blue runs! Hannah is very adventurous so this was another mountain she conquered. Joc wasn't too excited about skiing the blues, but in the end she loved it! They skied with our friends The Schueller's who were also here in Breckenridge for a few days.

Breckenridge, CO

We have finally made it to Breckenridge, CO. Rodney and the girls left Friday morning and arrived in Denver that evening. I flew out on Saturday. Our flight was delayed a little over an hour and all of that delay was us sitting on the plane at the gate. I was flying with Kara, Emma who is 4 and Eli who is 3 mos. They both did amazing and the flight was short. After stopping to get groceries, we headed into the mountains for the drive to Breckenridge. The first 45 miles wasn't bad, but it progressively got worse. I was ready to finally arrive at our house.

We've spent the first day just relaxing and adjusting to the altitude. Mom & Amber were sick all night. They are a little better tonight, but if there isn't drastic improvement by in the morning we'll need to get them some oxygen.

The kids played outside in the snow making snow angels, eating the snow, sledding and making a snowman.

Rodney was the only one to ski today and he met up with our great friends The
Schueller's and had an amazing time.

TAPPS 1A Runner Up

We played a hard game on Saturday, but came up short. Notre Dame is a good team that always seems to get the mental edge over us. Our girls still have so much to be proud of. A volleyball team from SGCA has not made it to the final four since 1991 and to only have 7 players. Most teams have 3-4 subs, but we have one. So our girls have to have the endurance and energy to play every game, every time.

Congratulations to Amanda Lee (#1), Jessica Lee (#5), Bailee Stewart (#2) & Mary Amon (#6) for making the TAPPS All State Team. We are so proud of each and everyone of these girls!

A huge thanks and farewell to Coach Mel for all her hard work and dedication to the team. We will miss her greatly!! A goodbye to Amanda Lee our only senior. Good Luck Amanda, we know you'll go far!

In the Championship Game

We won our very exciting Final Four game today. We got off to a rough start in the first match, but quickly came back and won 25-19. Second game was a little closer, but we won 25-22. The third game I guess we were a little tired and wanted a break, because we lost 15-25. However in the 4th game we rallied back to win 25-7! Joc doesn't usually hit that much as she plays defense, but today she scored the winning kill! Here are some pics from today with the last one showing the final score from the 4th game showing Joc's one and most important kill.

Tune in tomorrow at www.tappstv.com for the 1A TAPPS Championship game in which we'll be playing at 10am. We will be playing Wichita Falls Notre Dame who is a team that was 1st place in our district. They beat us twice, but the third will be sweet revenge for us!

Hannah & Horses

Hannah began horseback riding about 2 years ago. She started with a great instructor in Flower Mound. We were so disappointed when she decided to up and leave us for South Dakota, but we know it was a good decision for her. Hannah has also taken lessons almost the entire 2 years with Sydney. Hannah & Sydney became fast friends.

So after Jennifer left we were in search of someplace new. You would think in Texas we could find western/barrel lessons, but they are harder to find than I thought unless you want to drive an hour or more. Finally we came across Hidden Vale Stables in Plano. It's a 30 min drive on Sundays when there's no traffic. Here is Hannah & Sydney at one of their first lessons.

So after 5 weeks of lessons, Hannah's new instructor said she is ready for barrel lessons. On Sunday we drove to Collinsville, TX about an hour northeast of Dallas for a barrel race that her instructor, Rosie, was riding in. This gave us a good idea of what we are getting ourselves into. Here is Rosie:

Hopefully our next pictures from a barrel race will be of Hannah & Sydney.

Volleyball

Jocelyn (#3) has been playing on the varsity volleyball team this year. There are only six girls on the team and she is the only freshman. So there are no subs, which means every girl plays every game.

This last weekend we went down to Austin for a tournament with 15 other teams. The majority of the schools there were 4A schools. StoneGate is only a 1A school. For those of you who don't know, the rankings are based on how many students are in your school. The higher the number, the larger the school. 1A = small school. The girls walked away with 5th place out of 16 teams! I think they did a great job and we are very proud!
